How thick should gym flooring be? 10 mm vs 15 mm vs 20 mm

Understand the options

Classic V-Groove tiles are available in 10, 15 and 20 mm. These measurements describe the product; they do not by themselves guarantee suitability for a particular weight drop or equipment load.

Map your training zones

List cardio equipment, selectorised machines, benches, racks and free weights separately. Tell the team whether weights are placed down or dropped, how often the gym is used and what lies below it.

Look beyond thickness

Density, the existing slab, installation method and acoustic transfer all affect the result. A thicker tile is not a substitute for a structural or acoustic assessment in a multi-storey building.

Get a reviewed specification

Send equipment information, room photos and your plan. Ask for technical documentation and a sample. Final selection should be confirmed by the supplier for the actual conditions.
