Check outdoor suitability
Not every rubber product is intended for outdoor exposure. Ask the supplier to confirm the exact product's suitability for your site's sun, rainfall and expected traffic.
Plan drainage
A new surface cannot compensate for a poorly drained base. Have the slope, drainage outlets and water paths assessed. Discuss how joints, edges and the subfloor will work together.
Consider heat and weather
Surface temperatures, UV exposure and seasonal moisture need site-specific review. Request relevant test information and care instructions instead of relying on appearance or colour alone.
Document the specification
Describe whether the space is a walkway, running track or play area. These uses have different performance requirements. Confirm product, base preparation, installation and maintenance in writing before purchase.
