Inspect first
Photograph cracks, movement joints, damaged tiles and damp patches. Record the floor build-up if known. A qualified installer should assess issues that could affect the new surface.
Check moisture and level
Moisture can come from below the slab or from leaks and cleaning. Follow the selected product and adhesive manufacturer's testing and acceptance guidance. Do not cover dampness without identifying its cause.
Prepare the work area
Remove loose debris and contamination. Agree repairs and levelling before material arrives. Keep the area available for the installation and any required curing time.
Confirm the system
Loose-lay, interlocking and adhesive-fixed products have different instructions. Request the current product-specific method and avoid applying one generic process to every floor.
